How we expand it.
If you need more usage of lighting and charging, you can add solar panels
and/or batteries. In this case, you should take care of the following things.
I added a 10W panel (left) for power up. But I wonder how to connect.....The flow takes place from left to right in the above figure...
Addition of Panels
In this case, you should know the max voltage of both of the panels and
controller before hand. If you connect the same panel in series, the output
of voltage is double. This should be careful about the bearing capacity
of the controller. On fine days, the output of the panel is so high and
to charge batteries the output should maintain over 12V. For CAMP12 the
max capacity is 24V and 10A..
It is better to connect in parallel like the figure below. However, it
may happen some adverse flow in the circuit. To prevent from this, you
may require special diode for the both sides. Normally you embed them in
each plus wire in right direction. The following photo shows an anti-adverse
diode. In fact it is a tiny device.
I use it for 3A.
A series connection would be OK if a controller is available for its capacity. A 10W panel and the same one can be in series and then it makes a same power as 20W.
This diode should place a proper direction. In the figure, electricity
flows from right to left.
Addition of Batteries
If you want more capacity of a battery, you can connect it in parallel.
Better to place a same tyke of it. Normally you can connect in parallel
like the following figure.
In the photo you can see a connection terminal on the left of the controller. It places before the controller #1 and #2 after the panels. Through this terminal you can connect the panels in series or parallel. This gadget is quite convenient.
The right figure shows parallel connection of the panels. The both of the panels should place in the same conditions where the same output from either of them should be gained.. Otherwise.....
Caution for some panels
Solar panels which are made in China often or most probably attach a diode
for anti-backflow although expensive ones are usually built in this function.
Then the below photo shows this gadget in the terminal connection. Bear
in mind that this should place in right direction mentioned before, otherwise
electricity does not flow. This is just an example to show its installation.
